61 (who?)
Hear me read it!

It is nebulonic fate that we should dance
together in this burning bald ballroom
as the flames lick up the sepiatic walls
and drip curled paper down upon us.

It is our right to spin each other here
in the torrentous reign of flames and ash
as the chandelier, already hanging,
spits and sparks at us, trying to take us too;

and as everything we ever loved or cherished
in porcelain veneer or hand-crafted sycamore
crumbles to a close, still the thought remains-
that it is our star-writ fate to dance on.
One of my favourite poets, and friends, ~Konjuku posted a fragment of a song on facebook yesterday. He posted the lyric We're slow dancing in a burning room... - to which I immediately replied; And the chandelier spits at us (to his confusion, amusingly). This poem was written thinking about that idea, my gut reaction to one line of a song I've never heard, this beautiful visual in my mind of two people dancing together in a room on fire... and the destruction, but the peace of it, and the resignation and the inner strength that I saw in that image... lead to this.

Kind of a metaphor for using those we love to stay strong when the world falls down around us... kind of a metaphor for accepting your fate. So it's kind of an open ended love poem to those who have helped me get through the past couple of months, it's kind of accepting the relationship that I just got out of's end, and it's kind of just a pretty picture in words. Hope you enjoy.

Three new words today!
nebulonic - with characteristics of nebulas
sepiatic - sepia in colour but also in characteristic. It's hard to explain this one except to say that I said to a dear friend of mine that he is amber and I am sepia. Sepia as a characteristic is kind of, worn down, but potentially still quietly beautiful. who knows.
torrentous like torrential, but more torrenty. I don't quite know, all I can tell you is that torrential didn't quite indicate the forcefulness I wanted it to.
