If you can flutter
I have failed you,
for you were not forged
to be so insubstantial as that

You were writ
to be an epic fable
of endurance,
of endings ignored,

of outlasting your body
through the sheer will
of a writers starving heart
pumping genium

through a broken, bowed
but bravely abiding body
that fights the soul
to comprehend Beauty.
I wrote this inspired by a poem called The Wasting Game by Philip Gross which is about anorexia. I know two incredible guys, both insanely talented writers who happen to be physically drop dead gorgeous as well as really intelligent engaging friends to talk to - and the combination of that poem and the way I feel about the way those guys feel about themselves - created this.

I would prefer not to name one of the guys this is about, he has read this but he doesn't share his work here and so I don't want to open up his private life in a public forum. But the second guy is my beautiful writing hubby (xD) ~Konjuku who wrote this INCREDIBLE poem which is so painful... so so painful to read. So I recommend you do :P so this is half for him too.

Yeah, I agree that it is unfortunate to have a condition such as being anorexic but I think they will have a much better time coping with it with a great friend like you helping them out.

what does genium mean?

Its a beautiful poem - I like the way that the last stanza is stating everything about what makes a person... amazing, in anyone's eyes (and in particular, yours). I don't have anything particularly constructive to write, but I'll let it pass because this poem does speak for itself.

Well done :)

It is another KOD word, it means the chemical in the blood that causes geniusness.

I too struggle with eating sometimes, mostly because I am not good at spending my money in the right places.
Wonderful poem.

As I'm sure you know, I struggle with eating on a day-to-day basis. Though I am proud (?) to say that I don't make myself throw up like I used to, I still constantly have those urges and sometimes refuse to eat.

So this...resonates with me.

It's painful but true and tragically beautiful, as cliche as it sounds.

:tighthug: Recovery is a long long road, and I am proud of you every single day that you fight your impulses. Thats what bravery and strength are. You are wonderful. You are beautiful. <3

As someone who has struggled with disordered eating, this really rang true for me.  You have really seen into the heart of the matter (at least from my perspective).  Wonderful vision and beautiful poem.

:tighthug: Thank you so much, it is easy to see from the outside how beautiful someone is, and impossible to know it from the inside of these thoughts.

I was boulimic when young so these words speak to me so much... Sometimes, it happens to me to be tempted to eat everything I find on my way, but my 2 wonderful daughters are the ones who give me the strength to fight for their happiness, and if I am not well, they won't be...

Well, it is a true beautiful poem!
