I have been alone. This man is an island.
The cliffs of my shoulder blades
hang heavy with grief, ore, suffering.
I am draped with the permanence of gravity,
So do not believe that you cannot move.
Come to me, water babes fully grown,

Allow yourself to be swept in salt and ash.
Tumble with your brothers into my arms
and be at peace, at last, on the shore.
I too was once drowned, but I arose
and as the caps melt, all things will erode
For no man is an island alone.
For everyone ♥ click here to hear me read and explain my thoughts behind it

I felt really alone for many points in my life, particuarly at Christmas... and New Year... I would think every milestone would be my last and pray to be out of my misery.

I want everyone to know that it took me 10 YEARS to get out of my hole. I spent seven of those years in social isolation, and I still got out. It is possible, even completely on your own... but no one, ever, should have to feel alone.

I know this time of year is hard, so if you need someone, maybe reply. Maybe a load of people will see this and want to reach out and you can all meet.

for all my Stitches out there - hang in there, so proud of you all for getting through another year.

My Love to you all.

I'll relate this to Sting's Message in a Bottle. But yeah, no one's an island. We're a one, big continent.

I had stuff I wanted to say about the poem, but then I listened to the recording and now all I can think is "you're so adorable!"

(It really was a good poem too.)

This is very good. I think it's the perfect example of how some poems need to be heard aloud. Well done...on all fronts.
Thank you! I love to read my own work. I get ridiculously excited about my work. I know I shouldnt. :ashamed:

Pride may be one of the 7 deadly sins, but without at least a little of it, I think maybe then we cease to create.
